Welcome to the NETCULTURE-Project! The internet and the new information and communication technologies (ICTs) are looked upon as catalysts of social change. In connection with globalisation, the idea has arisen that through the Net human co-operation will in future be boundless, and that at the same time hierarchies will become pointless and dissolve. The Net, in the digital age, is considered an inevitable force of social progress. Will citizens in future thus govern themselves by participating in the Net? Will minorities become better integrated when they are linked up and will their problems thereby be solved of their own accord? In our research project, we will focus on the realisation of eGovernment measures in projects whose goal it is to close the digital gap between people who participate in the Net and those who are disadvantaged (e.g., immigrants and members of ethnic minorities). We will investigate the effects of these projects on the everyday life of people who work with the Net. How are the projects financed, used, conceived, set up and maintained? What policies are bound up with these measures? Read more. |
